The Intra-Asia Discussion Agreement (IADA) recently issued a guideline to its member lines for freight rate hikes for containerized shipments from the Far East (excluding Japan) that they will impose this month and in April.

As for containers from China, freight rates will be raised on March 28 by $100 per TEU for those destined to Bangkok, $50 per TEU for those to other ports in Thailand and $50 per TEU for those to other ports in Southeast Asia. On the same day, shipments from southern China to South Korea will be lifted by $50 per TEU as well.

Regarding northbound containers, fares will go up by $50 per TEU on March 15 for those from Thailand to China, on April 1 for those from Ho Chi Minh City to southern and central China and on April 15 for those from Indonesia to China.

Meanwhile, southbound shipments moved between economies covered by the IADA (excluding China) will see freight rate decreases of $30 to $100 per TEU over the period from March 15 to April 15.
