India’s Supreme Court has granted imposition of an environment compensation charge (ECC) on commercial vehicles crisscrossing Delhi in an attempt to reduce air pollution.

The charges will be Rs700 (US$10.6) for light duty vehicles and two-axle vehicles or Rs1300 ($19.6) for three-axle vehicles and above. The measure took effect on November 1, 2015 on an experimental basis for four months until the end of February 2016.
