Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) on Oct. 26 released a guideline for private enterprises and other parties to obtain information by linking their systems with the Northeast Asia Logistics Information Service Network (NEAL-NET).

The NEAL-NET, which was launched in August 2014, is a joint project between Japan, China and South Korea. It allows users from the three economies to share information on container logistics on a real-time basis.

The guideline contains technical specifications that users can refer to when needing to directly acquire information on the movement of containerized shipments between and among Japan, China and South Korea by connecting their systems with the NEAL-NET.

Making use of container information from the NEAL-NET gives greater convenience to users—logistics service providers that handle a huge amount of such information, in particular—and help them manage supply chains at higher levels.
