The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has announced that the International Cargo Tracking Note (ICTN) will be formally implemented as a component of the Nigerian cargo importation procedure as from November 2, 2015.

The ICTN, namely the Advance Cargo Declaration is a means of monitoring the movement of inbound and outbound Nigerian cargoes and obtaining essential information, data or statistics on the shipment and movement of cargoes for various strategic reasons. It complies with the International Ships and Ports Facility Code of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The Nigerian government has authorized the NSC to implement the ICTN scheme on all ports that are open to international traffic.

Under the scheme, shippers lodge the Entry Summary Number (ENS/EXS), while carriers lodge the Movement Reference Number (MRN). The ENS as required by the shipper at no cost must be lodged before loading in the foreign loading port on the NSC’s Advanced Cargo Declaration Website (www.acdnigeria.com).
