Starting from May 1, 2015, China's General Administration of Customs will integrate customs clearance procedures of ten customs sites in nine provinces along the proposed Silk Road Economic Belt from the northeastern province of Shandong to Xinjiang Uygur autonomous Region in the northwest as part of the central government policy to simplify customs procedures and reduce transportation costs, thus helping promote trade and investment in the regions.

The regional customs houses involved will share customs clearance information through an online regional center.

The pilot customs integration started in Beijing and Tianjin on July 1, 2014 and has been extended to nationwide.
