The Australian Government has released the Competition Policy Review Panel's Final Report for the so called ''Root and Branch'' review of Australia's competition legislation, the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (CCA).

In this report, the Panel, among others, has recommended repealing Part X of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (CCA), which exempts liner shipping from the competition laws, and reducing restrictions on sea and air cabotage.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) welcomed the final report as the most significant review of its kind in over 20 years.
The Panel's recommendations to simplify the Act and make it easier for businesses to understand their obligations under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 are commendable, ACCC said.
