Most of the containerships leaving Los Angeles and Long Beach in January were berthed at the twin ports longer by an average of four days than the corresponding month of 2014, according to the Japan Maritime Center (JMC). The Tokyo-based public-interest corporation recently complied a report on ship congestions at ports on the west coast of North America from statistical data provided by IHS Inc., a global information company in Colorado. The report indicated the situations became worse in February at both ports. Container carriers were each moored at Los Angeles for 197 hours (8.2 days) and at Long Beach for 176 hours (7.3 days) on average.
