Members of the Korea Nearsea Freight Conference (KNFC) catering to the trade between South Korea and Japan will implement a Container Imbalance Charge (CIC), also known as Equipment Imbalance Surcharge (EIS), to cover the costs of repositioning empty containers in the trade.
CIC will be $50 per TEU and $100 per FEU, effective April 1, 2015 and apply on rates for all containerized cargoes.
