A total of 979,000 TEUs of containerized shipments were traded among 12 Asian countries and regions in February 2014, which increased a mild 2.5% from the corresponding month of 2013. Exports from Japan were brisk, soaring 10.4% to 159,000 TEUs, but imports to Japan were not, falling 1.2% to 148,000 TEUs. In the first two months, 2.164 million TEUs were handled on the intra-Asia trade in total, improving 3.6% from a year earlier. Containers from Japan went up 8.8% to 290,000 TEUs, and those to Japan, up 2.9% to 348,000 TEUs.
