Container throughput in 2013 at major ports in Thailand was recently unveiled. Laem Chabang handled 6,041,475 TEUs, growing 1.9% year on year from 5,926,436 TEUs. Throughput at the port exceeded the six-million-TEU line for the first time.

Bangkok processed 1,505,047 TEUs, increasing 10.8% from 1,397,444 TEUs. Imports rose 4.6% to 862,579 TEUs, while exports were so robust that a double-digit improvement was made, going up 12.2% to 642,468 TEUs.

On the other hand, containers to and from the Lat Krabang Inland Container Depot (ICD) were not as brisk, decreasing 1.9% from 1,400,713 TEUs to 1,374,223 TEUs. Inbound shipments fell 6.7% to 659,301 TEUs, but outbound containers were steady, hiking 3% to 714,922 TEUs.
