The Coordinating Council on Trans-Siberian Transportation (CCTT) has unveiled the container volume via Trans-Siberian Railway totaled 801,361 TEUs in the first half of 2013, representing a 4.2% increase over the same period last year. Containers transported on container trains along the Trans-Siberian surged 34.5 % on year to 241,337 TEUs.
Export containers rose by 3.3%, transit boxes by 4.2%, and import containers by 27%, from a year earlier respectively.
Meanwhile, domestic transportation of containerized shipments fell by 1.7% on year to 458,216 TEUs in the six-month period.
The CCTT is a non-commercial transport association registered in Switzerland in 1997 and features 136 members from 25 countries including railways, shipping companies, railway administrations, freight forwarding companies and associations of freight forwarders.
