Trade between Japan and China in January-June amounted to 147.27 billion dollars, down 10.8 % from the same period last year and the lowest in four years, according to data recently unveiled by the Japan External Trade Organization known as JETRO.

Exports to China from Japan plunged 16.7% from a year earlier to 61.43 billion dollars while imports from China fell 6.1% year on year to 85.84 billion dollars, against the backdrop of slowing economic growth in China and diplomatic tensions over a territorial dispute between the two countries, resulting in a Japanese trade deficit against China of 24.41 billion dollars, up 40% from the same period last year.
