Container trade between Japan and China decreased both ways in June 2013, according to the Japan Maritime Center (JMC).

On a volume basis, exports from Japan to China wend down 2.7% year on year to 1,044,361 tons, and imports from China to Japan, down 6.5% to 1,759,366 tons.

However, the trade between the two Asian nations improved in both directions on a value basis. Outbound containerized shipments were valued at Ä617.9 billion, up 1.5%, and inbound shipments, Ä976.6 billion, up 11.8%.

In the first six months (January-June), a total of 6,283,767 tons of containers were moved from Japan to China, down 1.5%, and 10,817,143 tons from China to Japan.
