Exports of containerized shipments from Japan to China decreased year on year for two months in a row in March 2013, going down 2.4% to 1,188,632 tons, according to a report on container trade between the two nations released by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC) on May 15.
Imports suffered a double-digit decline of 14.8% to 1,723,450 tons, becoming more sluggish from the previous months, when they fell 6.3%.
In the first three months (January-March), outbound containers from Japan to China went down 3% from a year earlier to 3,001,598 tons, and inbound containers, down 7% to 5,113,041 tons.
