Japan exported 961,505 tons of containerized shipments to China in February 2013, suffering a double-digit decline of 14.7% year on year from 1,266,632 tons, according to the Japan Maritime Center (JMC). They were valued at \477.6 billion, plunging 17.7%.
In the first two months (January-February), exports decreased 4.9% to 1,812,966 tons in total.
On the other hand, the Tokyo-based public-interest incorporated organization added that imports from China to Japan were favorable in February, growing 6.4% from 1,342,814 tons to 1,428,660 tons, which represented the first year-on-year improvement in seven months, or since July 2012.
They enjoyed a double-digit increase on a value basis as well, soaring 31.4% to \804.8 billion.
In January and February, Japan imported a total of 3,389,581 tons, falling 5.4%.
