The port of Shanghai handled 2.88 million TEUs in March, an improvement of 5.3% compared to 2.73 million TEUs in the same month of 2012.
When compared to the previous month which was slower in cargo traffic due to the Spring Festival holidays, box throughput at the world busiest container port jumped 43% from 2.01 million TEUs recorded in March 2012.
For the first three months, the port processed 7.8 million TEUs, up 3.4% year on year.
