South Korea traded 2.71 million TEUs of containers with China in the first nine months (January–September), up 1.54% year on year, according to the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Conference (YSLSC). Local cargo increased 2.56% to 2.61 million TEUs, but feeder cargo plunged 19.58% to 98,345 TEUs.
Containers from South Korea to China accounted for 803,609 TEUs, down 5.52%, which consisted of 829,606 TEUs of local cargo, down 4.66%, and 44,003 TEUs of feeder cargo, down 19.18%. Containers from China to South Korea amounted to 1.84 million TEUs, up 5.28%, of which 1.78 million TEUs were local cargo, up 6.31%, and 54,342 TEUs were feeder cargo, down 19.91%.
