The Port of Kitakyushu handled 38,613 TEUs of foreign-trade containers in May, up 13.7% year on year, according to the Kitakyushu Seaport and Airport Bureau. Exports accounted for 16,840 TEUs, up 1.2%, and imports, 21,773 TEUs, up 25.8%.
In the first five months (January–May), Kitakyushu processed 181,485 TEUs in total, up 3%, which comprised 86,885 TEUs of exports, down 2.2%, and 94,600 TEUs of imports, up 8.2%.
