The Port of Hakata handled a combined 75,269 TEUs of foreign-trade and domestic feeder containers in May, down 5.6% year on year, according to the Fukuoka City Government’s Port and Airport Bureau. Including 6,911 TEUs of domestic containers, up 2.8%, total throughput amounted to 82,180 TEUs, down 5%.
In May, foreign-trade containers consisted of 34,762 TEUs of exports, down 7.9%, and 34,271 TEUs of imports, down 8.7%. As for domestic feeder containers, 2,286 TEUs were shipped out, up 28.8%, and 3,950 TEUs were shipped in, up 44.7%.
In the first five months (January–May), Hakata processed a combined 380,841 TEUs of foreign-trade and domestic feeder containers, up 1.2%. Domestic containers numbered 34,086 TEUs, up 12.1%, for a total of 414,927 TEUs, up 2%.
Foreign-trade containers were made up of 178,436 TEUs of exports, up 2.5%, and 174,347 TEUs of imports, down 2.2%. Of domestic feeder containers, 10,920 TEUs were shipped out, up 1.3%, and 17,139 TEUs were shipped in, up 28.1%.
