The Nagoya Port Authority (NPA) will take actions to enhance the global competitiveness of the Port of Nagoya, according to a medium-term execution plan formulated by the port authority.
On the east side of the Tobishima Pier, the draft of R2 Berth will be deepened from 12 meters to 15 meters. Seismic retrofitting and other improvements will be made. Also, new gantry cranes will be installed. Meanwhile, land behind W93 and W94 Berths will be developed to expand the loading and unloading areas.
To build a high-standard and -performance container logistics base and for next stages of the Port of Nagoya’s container terminals, the NPA will exchange views with relevant parties on investment projects for facility development and improvement to formulate development policies. To streamline port and harbor logistics formalities for private business operators, it will hold discussions and exchange information with relevant parties. To promote new technologies and initiatives, such as AI terminals to support workers and the Physical Internet, it will garner information on innovative approaches in Japan and overseas as well as challenges that face such approaches. The port authority will also share information and hold discussions with the government of Japan and private business operators to further raise the productivity of the container terminals.
