Member shipping lines of the Yellow Sea Liners Committee (YSLC), which covers the trade between South Korea and China, will hike freight rates by US$50 per TEU on April 15, 2013 for services they operate from South Korea to China. They also undertake a freight rate restoration to fully collect a bunker adjustment factor (BAF).

Downslides in freight rates and increases in fuel costs have made it difficult for carriers to maintain their operations on the South Korea/China trade, prompting them to restore rates for westbound services from South Korea.
