Container throughput of the port of Hong Kong declined 8.8% in February to 1.494 million TEUs, representing a negative growth for ten consecutive months. Containers handled at Kwai Tsing container terminals fell 8.2% from a year before to 1.134 million TEUs while those processed at terminals other than Kwai Tsing plunged 10.7% year on year to 360,000 TEUs, according to Port and Maritime statistics unveiled by the Hong Kong Port and Maritime Board.

For the first two months, box throughput at the port totaled 3.481 million TEUs, down 4.3% from the same period in 2012.
