In January 2013, the Trans-Pacific Revenue Index for services from Asia to the west coast of North America was 87.84 points, an increase of 2.30 points from the previous month’s 85.54 points, the first positive growth in four months, according to the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA). On a year on year basis, the figure is a decline of 5.76 points from 93.60 registered in January, 2012.

The index for services from Asia to the east and Gulf coasts of North America also improved in January for the first time in five months, going up by 1.55 points from December’s 76.51 points to 78.06 points. On a year on year basis, the figure is a decline of 8.39 points from 86.45 for January, 2012.

The Trans-Pacific Revenue Index includes various charges, such as contract freight rates, on-the-spot freight rates and non-floating terminal handling charges (THCs), but does not include bunker surcharges.
