The Port of Laem Chabang in Thailand handled a total of 5,926,436 TEUs of containerized shipments in 2012, an increase of 3.4% year on year from 5,731,062 TEUs, according to the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT).

In breakdown, exports amounted to 3,599,643 TEUs, improving 6.6% from 3,375,510 TEUs, and imports totaled 3,019,017 TEUs, growing 3.9% from 2,904,999 TEUs.

The PAT added that container throughput at the Port of Bangkok was 1,417,444 TEUs, which achieved a double-digit rise of 11.3% from 1,305,429 TEUs.

The port exported 572,591 TEUs, going up a minute 0.8% from 567,876 TEUs, while imports were much more brisk, surging 11.8% to 824,853 TEUs from 737,553 TEUs.
