Exports of Japan exported 988,459 tons of containerized shipments to China in November 2012, falling 1.4% year on year from 1,002,455 tons, according to a report released by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC). From the previous month, throughput was down 9.9%.

In terms of value, exports from Japan to China plunged 17.6% from a year earlier to \476.5 billion, as trade between the two Asian nations had been sluggish.

Meanwhile, imports from China to Japan amounted to 2,025,766 tons, decreasing 2.4% year on year from 2,074,914 tons. However, they improved 4.6% from October. They were valued at \973.3 billion, waning 3.5% from the previous month.

In the first 11 months of 2012, exports from Japan to China totaled 11,496,300 tons, going down 4.7% from a year earlier, and imports, 21,625,252 tons, down 0.3%.
