The China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) for the week ended on November 23 stood at 1,144.98 points, down by 0.7% from the previous week while the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) tumbled by 5.1% to 1,077.34 points.

The Europe service has head into the slack season, where demand continued to shrink last week and the average slot utilization rate fell to around 70%.

Rates for the European service plunged by $400 per TEU, and CCFI fell by 1.3% to 1499.28 on the trade from China to Europe and by 3.4% to 1292.30 for the Mediterranean service.

Demand also slid down last week on the North America trade, where the market rate (covering seaborne surcharges) from Shanghai to U.S. West Coast ports stood at $2,089 per FEU and to U.S. East Coast $3,146 per FEU, respectively down by 6.1% and 3.1% from the previous week.

The Shanghai ? Japan trade saw a moderate increase in volume with a slot utilization rate was more than 70% and the CCFI remained almost unchanged at 776.42.
