The Congo government has fixed the following rules on the age limit and conditions of used vehicles imported into the country, according to the French carrier Delmas:

-Secondhand cars or buses (below 10 seats) are not allowed to be imported if they are more than 10 years old.
- Secondhand buses (10 seats and more) and vans are not allowed to be imported if they are more than 7 years old.
- Secondhand lorries are not allowed to be imported if they are more than 10 years old.

Moreover, importers have to provide the following documents for customs clearance:

- Original car registration document or legal copy
- Legal conveyance certificate
- Original vehicle inspection certificate or legal copy of the country of origin

The restrictions will take effect on December 2, 2012. Should the imported vehicles not comply with this decree, they will be destroyed or re-exported at cargo expenses.
