Approximately 30% of Japanese enterprises feel they are adversely impacted by the ongoing deterioration in the diplomatic ties between Japan and China, according to Teikoku Databank Ltd.

The Tokyo-based business information provider conducted an Internet survey on Oct. 19-31, 2012, at which time it received valid responses from 10,534 companies across the nation.

As for the impact of the aggravation of the Japan-China relationship, 29.6% of the respondents said they were negatively affected, the survey said.

Meanwhile, 45.2% answered they were not affected, 24.6% stated they did not know if they were affected or not and 0.6% claimed they were favorably influenced.

By industry, manufacturers and transport/warehouse service providers both held shares of nearly 40% of those who felt negative impacts, accounting for 38.9% and 38.2%, respectively.

Focusing on manufacturers alone, more than 50% of both transport machinery/equipment makers and general machinery makers indicted they had difficulty in doing business, which accounted for 61.2% and 51.8%, respectively.
