The Trans-Pacific Revenue Index for services bound for the west coast and inland point intermodal (IPI) services was 90.64 points in August 2012, according to the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA).

It went up by 2.25 points from the previous month, when it was 88.39 points, reaching the 90-point line for the first time in 17 months, or since March 2011.

For services destined to the east coast of North America and the U.S. Gulf Coast, the index was 80.51 points, rising by 0.71 points from 79.80 points.

Exceeding the 80-point mark for the first time in two month, it reached the highest points so far this year.

The TSA’s revenue index tracks average revenue per FEU, which includes contracted and on-the-spot freight rates as well as terminal handling charges (THCs) and other non-floating charges but does not include bunker surcharges.

The agreement began unveiling the index in January 2010 and reports it every month, regarding where it was in June 2008 as 100 points.
