In April 2012, exports from Asia increased 4.85% to 3,752,100 TEUs, scoring a year-on-year increase for three months in a row, or since February, according to a report on global container movement compiled by Container Trades Statistics Ltd. (CTS) of the U.K.

On the other hand, Asia’s imports decreased 3.16% to 1,694,600 TEUs, suffering a decline for the second consecutive month, or since March, when they fell 0.63%.

Looking at other regions, exports from Europe waned a very minute 0.09% to 1,301,500 TEUs, which was the first year-on-year decrease they have registered since the beginning of the year.

Imports to Europe were much more sluggish, going down 4.92% to 1,769,500 TEUs, a decline for the second straight month.

Exports from North America abated 2.43% to 1,188,600 TEUs, but imports were massive, which soared 13.36% to 1,857,100 TEUs, achieving a double-digit improvement for three months in a row, or since February.
