The mutual recognition agreement (MRA) of secure export customs schemes between customs services of South Korea and New Zealand took effect on January 1, 2012. The pact allows New Zealand's secure export scheme members (SES) to be treated as the equivalent to Korea's authorized economic operator (AEO) members and South Korean AEO members to be treated equally.

The MRA is expected to realize secure and more efficient international trade supply chains and faster custom clearance times for exporters and importers of the two countries thanks to reduced customs inspection requirements.
