Effective January 1, 2012, Mexico Customs will introduce its new voluntary security program, Nuevo Esquema de Empresas Certificadas (NEEC), a new scheme of certified companies, which seeks to strengthen the security of the trade logistics chain through the implementation of minimum standards internationally recognized security in coordination with the private sector by providing benefits for those companies wishing to participate.

It will allow approved exporters who implement the required security standards to be certified and receive trade-related benefits in return.

It is a scheme to export and in the first stage have referred only to manufacturers and marketers.

Main benefits are:
- Streamlined customs clearance.
- Administrative simplification and assistance.
- Non-intrusive inspection technologies.
- Fast track lanes.
- Personalized attention.

Requirements of participants are:
- Have at least five years of export experience preceding the application date.
- Have a digital seal certificate to issue digital tax vouchers in accordance with Article 29 of the Federal Tax Code.
- Submit an application for authorization, referred to in paragraph L of rule 3.8.1. (1) of the General Rules on Foreign Trade at the Central Administration of International Affairs.
