Congestion at Mombasa, Kenya’s gateway port, is deteriorating due to ineffective cargo handling at the dock as the Kenya Port Authority (KPA) decided to disemploy crane drivers and other supporting staff. Delays are seven to nine day on average and crane liftings per hour are about 10 containers, far below the KPA target of 25 boxes per hour.
