Effective July 1, 2011, the Vietnamese government will raise fine levels for vehicle drivers who failed to meet safety regulations.
Under the revised decree of 33/2011/ND-CP, fines of VND 2-3 million (US$100-$150) will be meted out to drivers of semi-trailers who do not have FC license for using tractors to transport containers.
Drivers whose vehicle's horn exceeds the volume prescribed in the decree will be also fined between VND 2 million and VND 3 million.
The revised regulation also stipulates fines of VND 3-5 million for drivers of overloaded vehicles and for illegal parking.
