Effective June 6, 2011, Philippines' Bureau of Customs (BoC) will require car manufacturers registered with the Board of Investment's Motor Vehicle Development Program (MVDP) to implement the electronic Certificate of Authority to Import (e-CAI). The e-CAI is the new requirement for car manufacturers in securing vehicle parts and components abroad.

The Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) had requested BoC to postpone the full implementation of the electronic CAI (eCAI) until the end of this year due to the lack of supply caused by the huge earthquake that hit Japan last month.
