The Korea Food & Drug Administration (KFDA) announced Thursday that it would require radiation safety documentation and certificate of origin on imports of food from 12 prefectures and Tokyo Metropolis in Japan for radiation concern, following the March 11 earthquake on the Pacific Coast of the country and the resulting notable damage on the nuclear plant in Fukushima Prefecture.

The prefectures involve Yamagata, Miyagi, Niigata, Nagano, Fukushima, Ibaragi, Tochigi, Gunma, Chiba, Saitama and Kanagawa. The documentation will be required from May 1, 2011.
