French dockworkers returned to work on Monday after a four-day strike.

The industrial action was called for by the CGT (General Confederation of Labor) which represents French dockworkers. The union protests against the privatization of ports and reforms to the French pension system planned by the French government. They have been staging open-ended strikes since last year.

The four-day strike has caused widespread disruption to transport and relevant services at leading French ports including Le Havre and Marseilles. The CGT is expected to call for another round of work stoppage in the near future.
