The CGT (General Confederation of Labor), French dockworkers union, has called for their third round of weekend strikes this year at French ports again from Friday this week. The four-day work stoppage will continue until Monday, January 31.
Due to cover additional costs resulting from the intermittent strikes in French ports, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) announced Thursday an Emergency Strike Surcharge of UD$130 per TEU on shipments to/from the ports of Le Havre and Marseilles.
