The Port of Brisbane reopened on Monday morning for shipping in the Fisherman Island precinct, and nine vessels have berthed. By Wednesday 19 January it is expected that the remainder of berths up to the Gateway Bridge will reopen to commercial traffic.

Berths located upstream of the Gateway ? including the Qld Bulk Terminal, Brisbane Cruise Terminal, Forgacs, and the Hamilton and Maritime berths ? require further survey work and debris removal before they can be reopened. This is a difficult job due to strong currents and the need to survey the channel around the footings of the Gateway Bridge, the port of Brisbane said. The Navy is assisting with this task over the coming days.
