Container trades between Asia's ten countries and territories (Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia) marked a brisk expansion of 22.1% year on year to 442,000 TEUs in April.

Outbound shipments from Japan to those countries and territories ballooned 31.7% from the same period last year to 106,000 TEUs while inbound cargo soared 28.7% on year to 95,000 TEUs.

For the first four months, intra-Asian container traffic among those economies totaled 1.79 million TEUs, representing a 23.7% increase from the corresponding period in 2009.
