The composite Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) stood at 1,911.4 points in Week 18, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE). The index increased 1.9% week on week from 1,875.26 for its first rise in three weeks to exceed 1,900 points for the first time in 10 months since June 2025.
Looking at spot rates for container exports from Shanghai by trade lane, they were up 5% to $2,722 per FEU to the west coast of North America, up 3% to $3,691 per FEU to the east coast of North America, up 2% to $1,521 per TEU to Europe, and up 0.4% to $2,430 pe TEU to the Mediterranean.
Ex-Shanghai spot rates jumped 15.3% to $2,931 per TEU to Central and South America and 9.4% to $1,167 per TEU to Australia and New Zealand but fell 1% to $3,937 per TEU to the Middle East Gulf and 0.7% t0 $563 per TEU to Southeast Asia.
