The Drewry World Container Index (WCI) fell 1% from the previous week to $1,933 per FEU, a decline for the fifth consecutive week, primarily due to a drop in rates on the trans-Pacific and Asia–Europe trade routes. From a year earlier, the index was down 38%.

Spot rates from Shanghai to major U.S. destinations declined slightly owing to low cargo volumes, with those to Los Angeles and New York falling 1% to $2,214 per FEU and 1% to $2,800 per FEU, respectively.

Spot rates on the Asia–Europe trade route continued to decline, with those from Shanghai to Rotterdam falling 2% to $2,127 per FEU and from Shanghai to Genoa dropping 3% to $2,965 per FEU.

On the trans-Atlantic lane, spot rates picked up 2% to $966 per FEU from New York to Rotterdam and 1% to $1,616 per FEU from Rotterdam to New York.
