The Port of Nagoya handled 2.64 million TEUs of foreign-trade containers in 2025, up 1.9% for a year-on-year expansion for the third straight calendar year, according to the Nagoya Port Authority. In December alone, Nagoya exported and imported a total of 231,323 TEUs, down 7.9% from a year earlier, its first contraction in three months.

Looking at individual terminals, volumes increased 16.5% to 289,731 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal in 2025, 8.3% to 627,658 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal, and 3.9% to 1.14 million TEUs at Nabeta Pier Container Terminal. In contrast, throughput decreased 5.8% to 81,124 TEUs at Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal and 13.4% to 495,604 TEUs at NCB Container Terminal.

In December, container liftings jumped 24.1% to 27,968 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal and rose a slight 0.3% to 101,527 TEUs at Nabeta Pier Container Terminal. On the other hand, double-digit shrinkages were incurred at Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal, down 12.3% to 7,654 TEUs; NCB Container Terminal, down 21.4% to 42,897 TEUs; and Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal, down 20.1% to 51,277 TEUs.
