The Port of Nagoya handled 225,150 TEUs of oceangoing containers in November, up 6.7%, a year-on-year improvement for the second month in a row, according to preliminary statistics unveiled by the Nagoya Port Authority.

Looking at performances at individual terminals, double-digit increases were registered at Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal and Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal, where throughput jumped 27% to 52,845 TEUs and 24.4% to 23,634 TEUs, respectively. Growth was also marked at Nabeta Pier Container Terminal, which was responsible for 104,687 TEUs, up 8%, and Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal, 6,997 TEUs, up 2.4%. In contrast, containers to and from NCB Container Terminal plunged 20.6% to 36,987 TEUs.

In the first 11 months through November, Nagoya processed 2.41 million TEUs, up 3%. Individually, volumes rose 15.8% to 261,763 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal, 11.8% to 576,381 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal and 4.3% to 1.04 million TEUs at Nabeta Pier Container Terminal. On the other hand, numbers declined 5.1% to 73,470 TEUs at Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal and 4.3% to 1.04 million TEUs at Nabeta Pier Container Terminal. Other facilities handled 297 TEUs.
