The Port of Osaka’s Yumeshima Container Terminal has received carbon neutral port (CNP) certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) for its C10, C11 and C12 berths.
Kobe-Osaka International Port Corp. attended the ceremony for granting the certification together with Dream Island Container Terminal (DICT), Evergreen Shipping Agency (Japan), Osaka Port Corp. and the city of Osaka.
In accordance with a target that the government of Japan has set to completely eliminate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2025, the MLIT is promoting the formation of CNPs that strive to sophisticate their functions in consideration of decarbonizations, develop facilities to handle hydrogen, ammonia and other green fuels and so on. To this end, the ministry launched the CNP certification program in March. The C10, C11 and C12 berths have received a 2++ grade, the second CNP certification granted to Hanshin Ports.
