The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT)’s Kanto Regional Development Bureau will run Container Fast Pass (CONPAS) on a trial basis at container terminals at the Port of Yokohama’s Honmoku Pier from Nov. 13 to Nov. 27.
The bureau is introducing CONPAS, a port information system developed and operated by the MLIT, to enhance the global competitiveness of Keihin Ports (Tokyo, Kawasaki and Yokohama) by eliminating congestion at container terminal gates and reducing the amount of time for which container terminals stayed at terminals. In conducting the trial operations, it will make use of outcomes from previous tests.
At BC1 and D1 container terminals, CONPAS will be run on 10 weekdays to disperse and level trailers delivering containers to and from the container terminals. At D4 container terminal, CONPAS will be operated for a similar purpose on the same 10 days, but for trailers delivering containers from the container terminal, while it will also be tested to streamline cargo handling work at container yards. At B2 container terminal, CONPAS will also be run for a similar purpose on Nov. 26-27 and to accept bookings.
