The latest KOBC Container Composite Index (KCCI) stood at 1,719 points on Monday, Korea Ocean Business Corp. (KOBC) announced on the same day. Spot rates for container exports from Busan increased on most trade lanes, except for those to the east coast of Latin America and West Africa, making the composite index rise 1.24% from a week earlier for second consecutive terms of growth.
On the main lanes, the individual KCCIs came to 2,019 points to the U.S. West Coast, up 2.5%; 2,981 points to the U.S. East Coast, up 1.91%; 1,972 points to Europe, up 0.87%; and 2,327 points to the Mediterranean, up 4.26%.
On the non-main lanes, the KCCIs declined 0.43% to 2,994 points to the east coast of Latin America and 0.5% to 3,557 points to West Africa but improved 0.55% TO 2,543 points to Australia, 2.31% to 2,388 points to the west coast of Latin America and 0.75% to 3,763 points to Southern Africa.
Within Asia, the KCCIs picked up 0.36% to 836 points to Southeast Asia and remained unchanged at 49 points to China and 210 points to Japan.
KOBC unveils the comprehensive and individual KCCIs for spot rates for container exports from Busan to U.S., Europe and 11 other major destinations that include terminal handling and other charges. The comprehensive index is the weighted average of the 13 individual indices, which reflect container movements and other factors on the 13 trades.
