The Burunday Container Terminal (BCT), a new multimodal logistics hub in the Almaty Industrial Zone in Kazakhstan, has officially opened.

The opening took place at the 28th TransLogistics Kazakhstan exhibition, where visitors toured the terminal.

Construction for BCT began in July 2024, with the first container train processed earlier this year. Now fully operational, BCT offers rail and road links, modern handling equipment and an automated management system that integrates planning, operations and reporting.

BCT spans 16.5 hectares and can handle more than 100,000 TEUs of containers per year. Future expansion plans include warehousing facilities for logistics service providers, distributors and retailers.

Kazakhstan’s transit volumes have surged in recent years, with container rail traffic from China via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) rising sharply. To meet the demand, BCT has been built as a next-generation facility featuring full workflow automation.
