Drewry's Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) fell 9% in the first half of August to $592 per FEU, which was 35% below from a year earlier. Drewry expects rates to remain stable in latter half of August.
Spot rates were down 2% to $51 per FEU from Busan to Shanghai, up 11% to $39 per FEU from Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai, down 6% to $51 per FEU from Jakarta to Shanghai, down 7% to $1,397 per FEU from Shanghai to Jawaharlal Nehru, down 11% to $738 per FEU from Shanghai to Singapore, up 6% to $1,024 per FEU from Shanghai to Tanjung Pelepas, up 7% to $777 per FEU from Shanghai to Yokohama and down 31% to $72 per FEU from Yokohama to Shanghai.
The IACI reports actual spot container freight rates on major intra-Asia trade routes. The index updated fortnightly, consists of 18 route-specific indices representing individual shipping routes and a composite index.
