The Port of Nagoya handled 210,926 TEUs of foreign-trade containers in November, down 5.7% from a year earlier for the first year-on-year contraction in two months, according to preliminary statistics released by the Nagoya Port Authority.

Looking at performances at individual terminals, throughput increased 3.2% to 86,841 TEUs at Nabeta Pier Container Terminal but decreased at all of the others. Containers to and from NCB Container Terminal slid 3.4% to 46,558 TEUs; to and from Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal, 12.2% to 41,602 TEUs; to and from Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal, 15.5% to 18,991 TEUs; and to and from Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal, 41.5% to 6,834 TEUs.

In the first 11 months (January-November), Nagoya processed 2.34 million TEUs, up 1%. Volumes enlarged 0.7% to 999,936 TEUs at Nabeta, 0.5% to 517,731 TEUs at NCB, 6.3% to 515,474 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Side and 1.3% to 226,127 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South. On the other hand, container liftings shrank 19.5% to 77,380 TEUS at Tobishima Pier North and 34.2% to 422 TEUs elsewhere.
